Production Operations Director Job Description

Base Compensation:  $115K-135K per year, fully paid healthcare benefits. 

About the Role
The Production Operations Director role is to oversee Dual Wield Studio’s ongoing production operations and procedures. The Production Operations Director is a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). You will be entrusted with the responsibility of diverse business operations, so we expect you to be an experienced and efficient leader. This role requires excellent people skills and exemplary work ethics, as the primary goal of the Production Operations Director position is to oversee the process of all product manufacturing and to drive sustainable growth while mindfully balancing our overarching ethos of fair treatment for our team and our partners.

Production Operations Director Primary Job Functions:

• Designing and implementing production pipelines in conjunction with existing producers and other team members.
• Maintaining an overarching accountability for all products across company storefronts throughout their movement through the production pipeline.
• Establishing and maintaining policies that promote company culture and vision.
• Communicating clearly and regularly with team members on workflow statuses.
• Contributing to leadership projects, initiatives, and professional development.
  Project management of any assigned production based initiatives.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Advocate for and act with entrusted responsibility for a team of employees.
• Oversee and implement production procedures.
• Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth.
• Communicate production needs across internal and external teams.
• Lead employees to encourage individual and team success.
• Evaluate and adapt processes and procedures based on team needs.
• Maintain overarching understanding of all products in active development.
• Balance team readiness with actionable growth opportunities.
• Maintain ongoing understanding of production processes and product types.
• Manage relationships with partners/vendors/manufacturers.
• Additional tasks as needed to ensure team and business goals.
• Act as hiring manager for the art department, and participate in the organization’s hiring process, including but not limited to generating and editing job descriptions, reviewing candidates, and conducting interviews.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in production operations at a senior level.
• Proven experience in the end-to-end production and manufacturing of physical products, especially licensed goods, or equivalently relevant experience
• Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, Marketing, etc.
• Familiarity with Asana or comparable project management programs
• Familiarity with Alibaba, manufacturer sourcing, and general manufacturing practices for both domestic and international businesses
• Familiarity with Profit & Loss (P&L) processes to inform and evaluate production
  Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
• Preferred working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure
• Working knowledge of Shopify and other online storefront suites
• Working knowledge of the Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, etc), Microsoft Office, Adobe PDFs
• Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
• Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
• Demonstrable people-oriented approach to decision-making and problem-solving.

Nice To Have:

• BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with convention exhibition and/or artist alley tabling
• Experience in fundraising will be a plus
• Familiarity with the licensing industry/licensed physical merchandise
• Familiarity with video games, tabletop, anime, and general fandom knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times, but not often. 
• Travel may be requested but Dual Wield Studio does not have any plans to do in-person events (or have an in-person office) while the pandemic is in effect.
