The CDC has issued a recommendation that everyone should be wearing masks to slow the spread of COVID-19. Leaving N95s and other PPE to medical workers is essential. With hospitals asking for donations of home-sewn masks, and many people out of work, we've hired cosplayers to use their spare fabric to create home-sewn masks for daily wear, repurposing what they have!
Please use these as a covering on top of a currently approved CDC/WHO mask!
Furthermore, many within our community are very generous and have asked how they can provide masks for those in need. We've set up a system that allows for members of our community to purchase masks for others who may need them. If you would like to purchase a mask to gift to someone else, please use this link. If you would like to receive a mask someone else has paid please use this page.
We have two basic masks available to receive until we restock. The options are listed below. You may choose which design you would like if it is available. Your purchaser will not know who receives their gifted mask. At no point will you, the recipient, see any information for the purchaser. If you are a purchaser, at no point will the recipient see your information.
Your donated mask cost includes a rate of $5 flat for shipping and handling which will cover most domestic shipments. For any extra costs not offset by this flat handling fee, Dual Wield Studio will pay the remainder.
If you would like to receive more than 3 masks, please reach out to hello@dualwieldstudio.com so we can help you arrange a custom order. Please note we do not control how many masks are donated. If you are greatly in need, please do not hesitate to reach out so we can attempt to assist if we are able.
If you are a shelter, a non-profit, or a small business who cannot afford bulk masks for your employees, please email hello@dualwieldstudio.com so we may attempt to assist you.
If you are an individual who has already received a mask from us, we ask you wait 2 weeks before requesting another, if it is possible and safe for you to do so, so we may get masks out to everyone as quickly as possible.
PRODUCT DETAILS
- Each artist was paid an hourly rate of $20, plus materials costs to create each mask.
- Each mask follows a hospital-provided pattern and material usage.
- Some masks utilize ties, or elastic; please note which mask uses what when you purchase.
- Please wash your mask when you receive it. Due to limited accessibility to professional hospital mask-washing facilities, these masks have not been professionally laundered. Our fulfillment center individually bags them and has taken great pains to ensure the safety of employees but we encourage you to wash your masks after each use and upon receipt.
- For masks with ties - if you would like to substitute elastic, simply tie a knot of elastic around one of the ends of the fabric ties and pull it through. Adjust the elastic to your desired size and tie it back.
- These masks fit neatly over N95s, KN95s, or other basic/standard filtration masks. (N95s and other similar masks should be used by medical professionals: if you have N95 masks you do not need please seek out a donation location at a hospital near you.) Any sewn by Last US Bag Company are 2 layer, 100% cotton, able to be worn on their own or over another mask.
